Hi Svein Rasmussen and the starboard team!
I´m from Sweden, having 3 boards under 100 lit. and 3 over, incl. the FW
which I use 95% of the TOW.
Occasionally we get big waves (long fetch from Finland)
and offshore storms occur once or twice a year,
thats why I have boards for almost every occasion.
Still the most common winds in most places of the world (incl. the lakes of Finland and Sweden)
are under 14 knots, with holes of 4-6kn, where most of us drop of a plane.
In winds 14 knots up, many windsurfers already have sufficient equipment, so I´m dreaming of a
high aspect planing surface, on a board 125 cm wide, 199 cm long superplaner..
Ofo tail: 99 cm can take a 99 cm high aspect RETRACTABLE fin that doesn´t need those dreadful, heavy old center board gaskets because the fin folds up behind the board and makes it possible to
launch in shallow waters.
The fin function will also make it easy to minimize the wetted surface on the runs, when the
hydrodynamical, lateral centre of force, easily can be moved a bit back with your foot.
Instead of the chicken strap, you can keep your foot at the
finhead, giving you perfect grip and control over your board- and fintrim-angle, going
deep downwind.
When?..-will this light, high performance board, for maximum early planing and upwind
capacity come true..
– so we once and for all can stop thinking of those longboards we got rid of
years ago.
A 125 cm -board will make a 11,0 – 12,5 feel very easy to handle, the same way a 10,4
feels easy on a 100 cm FW, or a 9,0 on a 85 cm board.
Barry could even start doing fuller 12,5´s for extreme early planing on the 125/99
board/fin combo..
I think there´s potential for Sweden, Finland (-the land of thousand lakes)
-the world and the olympics.
But most of all for the sport of windsurfing.
I´m shure this new high aspect board, will be my next 95% of TOW superplaner!
-when you´ve put it in production.
The question is when?
Let´s have fun! ( -with less limitations.. )
