BJORN DUNKERBECK & ROBBY NAISH’S SET SPEED SAILING WORLD RECORDS
In their quest to become the fastest men on water both
undisputed water sport icons Björn Dunkerbeck & Robby Naish
established two new World RecordsDuring the month of July the two World Champions gathered in the Atlantic Ocean at
Arinaga, Spain – together with Antoine Albeau of France and Anders Bringdal of
Sweden – the sailing worlds finest ; to not only challenge the world record of 46,52
knots but also to break the 50 knots barrier. While Robby Naish set a new speed record for kite surfing with 38,47 knots, Björn
Dunkerbeck established a new benchmark for the nautical mile. Tackling the 500-
meter distance race, the Challengers were fast steady attacking the current world
record, which Dunkerbeck took at glance at when he sailed 46,3 knots over the 100-
meter sprint distance. The 2003 Speed Sailing Challenge will eventually travel to Southern France;s
Mediterranean Sea before catching the winds of spring on the shores of New Zealand. For more information visit The Official Website of the World Speed Sailing Challenge 2003
