Maui Windsurfing: Weekend Update
Mostly light conditions have prevailed this last week. Here’s a quick synopsis starting with last Sunday:
Sunday
Mostly light at Kanaha except some brief periods of sailable wind
Monday
Big surf today on Maui. Uppers – scary big and super gnarly. Lowers – super crowded since most Hookipa folk came to Kanaha today.
Overheard: “Upper Kanaha was pretty sketchy and scary big today!”
Tuesday
Big surf again and marginal wind except for about an hour between 1 and 2
Wednesday
Light and variable winds island-wide
Thursday
Light north wind, on north shore, stronger and sailable in Kihei
Friday
Light north wind, on north shore, stronger and sailable in Kihei
Saturday
Pretty light wind on the north shore most of the day. Came up to upper teens around 2ish. Much windier in Kihei.
Winds are forecast to lighten up on Sunday and even more the following two days.

Calling All Searchers!
Major search efforts are taking place this weekend on Maui. An aerial surveillance operation is in progress today (Saturday), and the search team is focused on organizing tomorrow’s comprehensive search effort. If you are on Maui, your help is very much needed! If you can volunteer 2-3 hours of your time to search for Laura, go here for more information.
