Speedsurfingblog: [travel] Mexico, Salina Cruz
Salina Cruz is an offshore wind spot, the speedstrip is slightly curved and long (5km length). The offshore wind increases because the spot lies between 2 mountains. It looks like La Franqui, France.
You might recognize the spot from the Björn Dunkerbeck world speed sailing challenge (at least I think this was the spot). He did some great speedsurfing over there, the water looks very fast check out the pictures below. With Dunkerbeck his history he really deserved this trip along many good speedspots. It is a dream for me to do the same some day, looks impossible right now, but 80km/h average also did look impossible not long ago 😉
Also found some onshore wind pictures and than you find real clean waves. This is a good sign, the bottom could be very consistent. For speedsurfing this is handy to have constant water or chop, it can boost speed a lot.
Definitly a spot to check out for speedsurfing when its offshore wind and you are in the neighborhood.
