Who is JB?
Have you seen the Jamie O’ Brian’s (JOB) surf movie ’Who is JOB?’ If not – do it! It is good in so many ways, not only exceptional surfing and a great sound track, but you also get a new and much more positive picture of who JOB really is.
I cannot compare to JOB in any way. My surfing sucks in any comparison, I have had a pretty picture perfect child hood etc, but I still think the question is relevant; Who is JB?
As any person I have quite different lives. I’m a family father, living in a nice suburb just outside Stockholm Sweden. I’m an associate professor at Stockholm School of Economics, doing social studies of finance and investment banking, as well as teaching in management, leadership and organizational analysis. But, the here most relevant; I’m a passionate amateur windsurfer and surfer. Since two decades, I travel to Maui, Hawaii every winter. I try to sneak down to the rough Atlantic surf in Portugal, Morocco or France whenever possible. I love driving one hour south from where I live outside Stockholm too our most consistent surf spot ’Torö Stenstrand’. Or doing forecast trips to Gotland (Sweden’s own Hawaii in th emiddle of the Baltic Sea) or to the Swedish west coast. I’m the Swedish distributor for the Maui based brand HotsailsMaui, making extremely well built quality windsurf sails and rig components. And I have my little surf shed in my back yard in which I have my shape booth, trying to produce as good surf boards as possible. Back in the days I used to call these boards JB Custom, today I call them ’Eight-08″ as in both the Hawaiian and Stockholm area phone number.
So who am I really? Well I think you might find out if you visit my blog of and on. I’m actually not sure myself. Maybe I will also find out along the way – filling this blog with content. Maybe this blog will even change me? I have seen how social media is changing people, sometimes for the good, but not to seldom in the other direction. Let’s see what happens to me.
