101 reasons to take a course. #54 – www.kiteboarding.se
Taking a course is awesome, imagine this, you show up at the beach for the first time with your gear and dont have a clue what to do because you didnt wanna spend a couple of thousand on a course… Naturally, you are swedish, so you dont exactly want to talk to anyone. So, you rig your gear wrong and ask someone to launch you.. if you dont crash on the beach, you make it to the water and make everyones life hell, nearly killing a few people hehe.
What happens then? well, noone wants to go anywhere near you and you take away that one single thing that makes us special – Friends that would put their life on the line to save your ass.
Now imagine this… You show up at the beach and meet a whole bunch of surferdudes that welcome you with a smile and a hug, the sun is shining and no-one is in a hurry to go home.
About an hour into the course, you realize that there is more to it than you thought, the wind is picking up and everyone is chatting like they knew each other for years.. This is going to be an awesome day.
3 hours into the course and you are getting in control, you have the theory behind you and groups of people are starting to gather on the beach watching you as if you are a pro that has been in the sport for years, strangers may just come up and start asking you questions like ”what is it that makes you wanna feel alive, why are you so awesome?”, you laugh, suddenly you have just realized that the wind and sun on your face makes you feel better than you have done in years.
At the end of the day, when its all over and the sun starts to fall, goodbye hugs are exchanged. On the drive home, you look across to the sunset in a silent dream, ”shit, that was an awesome day”.
If you guys see any of these dudes looking for a launch, know that they will give you a ”thumb up”, know that they will keep their kite low so you can get upwind of them and know that they understand how awesome it is to be one of us. Thanks for a day I will remember for a long time.

Ska han launcha kiten då?? Om… har jag då gjort fel när jag har hållt in bommen en aning på min rippehr när jag launcha? :tongue:

Om du menar re-launch så bör du göra som på bilden. Ett fast grepp om ena linan tills kiten ställer sig på kant och vill iväg. Men trassla inte in fingrar, håll mellan tumme/pekfinger. Är det vanlig hederlig launch så brukar det duga fint att ha ”övre” handen på bommen.

yeah its true what Sourra says, you dont need to hold onto the bar at all, in fact – if ya get good at it, you wont need to touch the bar until the kite gets up to 12 oclock. Just to kill confusion, we are talking about a water relaunch here.
