Naish Torch Review
My experience with this product: 6-10 sessions
I have had a Torch 12m for 3 weeks now and have plenty of time under it. The kite is a total change in style from the V4, which I really loved.
The kite’s construction is incredible with the single inflation system (Octopus) and the 5th line (Shift System.) The leading edge has a new material and the overall construction is a high as you would expect from Naish. The new bar is comfortable and hassle free with a new pull / pull depower / power strap. The 5th line is of a very high standard and the leash attached is top notch.
The kite flies has a HUGE wind range and you can use it in low and high winds. The depowering ability of the kite is again massive, yet the kite is still controllable. When unhooking the kite doesn’t flair and hooking back in is easy. I have been out in 10kts to 28kts!
The jumps are big and controlled. It has a solid pull for no-whip moves and plenty of pop for high jumps.
Wave riding is incredible with a solid canopy to work off of. The kite follows you to where you want it and the power is on and off as it is required.
The turning speed is very fast and for kite loops, this kite is insane. It seems to want to go deep into the powerzone but without the massive pull from my V4’s.
With the single inflation system (Octopus) the kite inflates in one go and you can really pump the kite quite hard. It is lovely to do this. The system is clean and has no extra bits of tubing to contend with.
The 5th line system works a charm and relaunching is a very simple exercise. Even in waves, the kite relaunches in seconds which is a big plus. Self landing is now easy and you can kill power when it is required.
The bar is a 20″ bar with a new grip, and depower strap. When turning the kite seems to have a slight delay which helps with handle passes and other no whip moves. But when you want it to turn, it does. The pressure on the bar is average with plenty of time to pass the bar before the kite starts to move out of your comfort zone.
In general terms, the kite is an ideal kite for gerneral styled riders with ambitions. The kite responds in the right way and a beginner could get to grips with the kite quickly. In the right hands, this kite produces massive kite loops and handle passing is a much easier proposition.
I love mine and am a sponsored rider, so take this review with this in mind. However, I am TOTALLY stoked with this product. Naish has really managed to get it totally right for my style of riding. Give them a go and spend some time on them before making up your mind. I hate people who review products after 15mins on them!
