RESULTAT FORMULA EURO CUP
The last day of the Euro Cup in Sardinia was a high performance and full power race on the edge. The wind speed was stronger than yesterday – offshore and gusting to 34 knots. The race director was not sure if it was safe to send out the fleet, but the competitors eagerly wanted to race.. Most competitors choose their smallest sails (of the registered 3) of sizes between 8,4 – 9,0. Consequently we had two races today with what can be described as ”nuclear” conditions. Wojtek went out to dominate again in the first race, with more then 100kg Ben Van Der Steen second. James Lever and Steve Allen followed as third and fourth respectively. With this bullet Wojtek had already secured his overall victory at Sardinia. Again the winning combination was the 9,8 m2 Neil Pryde RS1 and Starboard Formula 175 with 70cm Deboichet fin.
We had the opportunity to follow the top guys on their down wind leg with a multi horse power speed boat equipped with a speed meter. The top speed of the front runners were measured to over 32 knots. All this on Formula gear!!! Finally after 4 days of competition and 8 races Wojtek Brozowski (Era, Neil Pryde, Star Board) was first at 7 points. (1;1;7;2;1;1;1;2) Steve Allen (Fanatic,Gaastra) finished second with 18 points, (7;2;2;1;7;2;4;DSQ) and Ben Van Der Steen (North, Fanatic) third with 23 points (19;12;3;9;3;5;2;1). Two races were discarded.
