Surfkate: Tsunami warning
Saturday 27 February at 05:50 a really lowd siren started to sound. We had no clue what it was untill Clarence, the owner of the house, came by and told us that at 11 a Tsunami would hit the island. A earthquake in Chile at 8.8 richter scale was the start.
We slept for a little while longer, and again the sirens…I woke up and listened to the radio…People ringing in…The radiopeople were great with good info. A couple of people ringing in were brilliant. One guy called in and asked if anybody would get hurt or killed from the tsunami…
We ate breakfast, packed some food and passports and went up to Makawao forrest which is 3000ft (1000m) up.
We met up with Tracy and Dean in the parkinglot where we hung out.

Me on top of the fridge bag with a lifevest in total panic….O my god, a Tsunami is on it’s way. Save yourself…
Johan is still ok….
Hippie blanket on he says hi to a dog driver…Things are wierd in the forrest, ey?
Johan taking all his belongings. He is a survivor. He will be walking to the south were the sea is…
Tired and bored…Waiting for a Tsunami takes a lot of energy…We actually did go for a run in the loop. It took 1h and 27 minutes. Elevation 280 m.
The Tsunami was called off so we headed off down to the coast again….
