Well,
Maybe I would not have any chance to win any Formula race with an F155 and 9.3 sail these days, but now I have a chance to win a Slalom race with that gear.Fernando ()

good idea to bring slalom back, but please no silly restrictions, no repeat of the same mistakes that formula did.Why those silly size restrictions. a lot of people [the heavies] and a lot of gear will be not allowed or disadvantaged before it even starts.
falcon 90/bic90/gun9.9/YES10.0 for example
in slalom more so than in formula the one with the most efficient set-up will be fast. let the riders work out what is best for them.the simpler the rules the better. 3/1 and the min windlimit should be enough.
boogieIn the stupid idea of IFCA there is a stupidity in the rules as well, being the already adressed issue of limiting measurements of the gear that may be used in slalom. Just imagine I’m a jumbo guy of over 100 KG. For me slalom on a Falcon 90 (very good example Boogie, thanks for that one) or F175 could be just the right setting for me with a 10.4 to be competitive to others with smaller gear… Why these silly limitation no one will benefit form.
And if I only have budget for 1 board then i can not race slalom if I decide to have a >85 width board to be competitive in FW or I can not race competitive in FW if I decide to use a 85 width board for slalom. Just stupid ideas.
A humbble suggestion then?:
I would advice IFCA to use these forums to test ideas they might have so they have a better understanding at what really is complementary.
They deserve credit for bringing slalom back to the scene again but please reconsider the already made choises.

It´s nice to know that on the local scene you´re FREE to have fun without restrictions. We never stopped doing slaloms, -the simple reason is that most people here want them.
We are so FREE from limitations, that even lazer- or hobycatsailors who like to join us courseracing, are very welcome!
Windsurfing is FREEDOM and we´re all having very much fun!
Windsurfing is almost taking over our lives.
If you want figure 8´s in 8kn with your F 175/10,6 – do it!
If you don´t like your 1m-FW-board in galeforce-winds, take a smaller board and discover how superfun courseracing, including beam- and/or broad reaches, is!
Don´t ever let the rulemaker´s spoile your fun!
Have fun! -Ulf
