    Hey, everyone!
    I’m from Saint-Petersburg. I’m coming to Kalmar in autumn to study. And I’m very interested about kitesurfing in Kalmar. Give me please info about:
    1) spots (how many do you have, how is it possible to reach them, any specific);
    2) what average wind blows and what kite size (sizes) do I need to feel myself comfortable during all period of staying in Kalmar;
    3) are there a lot of students kitesurfing? (someone from Linnaeus?)
    4) are there any schools or training teams for student (we have such in Saint-P.)
    5) is there snowkiting in Kalmar? if yes, tell me please everything I need to practice snowkiting (spots, sizes for kites);
    6) Is there any shop in Kalmar so I could buy some stuff because I’m not sure if I could take all mine;

    Best regards,
    Dmitry

    Yo! Dunno anythin about kiting in Kalmar, but on the island Öland just on the other side of the bridge from Kalmar youve got some quality kiting. I do know there are people kiting in Kalmar so I hope they help you out. Good luck!

    Hey Dmitry,

    1) Check this http://spotguide.kicks-ass.net/x/default.asp?Area=10&WindDir=0&ps=1 out, it’s a spot guide listing most kitespots on Öland, and the rest of Sverige too. Talludden, which is just in Färjestaden on Öland you could prob reach by bus but otherwise I reckon a car is preferable. There’s quite a lot of kiters in Kalmar though so you should be able to get a ride.
    2) We use meters per seconds wheras the rest of the world use knots and there’s quite a lot of 15-20 knot days, prob more than 20-25, 25-30 are easy to count, but when they come they are great.
    The most common size kites in Sweden I would say is 12 m as big kite and a 9 m as a small, and maybe 7 as a storm kite. Usually the spring and fall is the most windiest periods of the year, Öland is well famous for its seabreeze in spring and early summer (april to early june).
    3) Dunno, should be quite a few.
    4) http://www.olandkitesurfers.se/
    http://www.hagakitesurf.se/ etc.
    5) Yeah, if the get snow. You can use your waterkites on the snow but usually you don’t need as big kite as on the water.
    6) The kiteschools carry gear, what are you looking for?

    Best regards,
    Andreas
