hello Mark,thanks for your e-mail.
we (our JP boss Martin Brandner) had the idea
to bring back a speed-oriented disciple to the world cup,
which includes more “maneuvers”:
Super-X
the advantage is that this new disciple is not “speed-only” and
therefore shall favour a less technical, but more allround-oriented
windsurfing equipment
(-> wider range of use ! )from this idea the PWA evolved a project.
the first tests were done, the “thing has been changed and tested, changed
and tested… over and over again. and now it workes out well. the format
still is tuned and adapated here and there.
so, it is in the process of getting on its way…what i would like to say here is:
give it a chance !you do not know, how it will happen exactly –
– at the moment nobody does for 100%, the rules are just written now.
and you do not see the new chances (!!!)
to bring this new discipline to a wider public.
logically, there will be a difference in a Super-X event on world cup level
compared to an amateur event,
but there will be concepts…
and the most simple format of a Super-X is -again- a Slalom.forget all your arguments below. it is not the point, if they are right or
wrong.
you even have to forget your (personal and private) emotion behind it.
fact is, that Slalom existed, for years, almost decades! and then it died.
nobody killed it. it just happened.
the life-span of this discipline simply ended – game over.actually, there are a lot of reasons for this.
Super-X is a kind of revival of this discipline, but it is fresh and new.
it has to be new, different and (somehow) “better”, otherwise this “baby”
will not grow.
and in such a case, the old “spirit of slalom” will remain dead…all the best
