if its the cable it could be one of two things maybe… I am just guessing here…

if its not enough power from the USB (happens with old usb ports) you can get a double usb into one… they are specifically for that purpose to drive external HD without an additional power supply..

second one is that I have found the USB cable supplied with the charger to my phone will not power up an external HD.. its kinna pulsating with the power.. obviously some sort of charge thing.. anyway, I swapped it out and all was good..

just a guess.. hope it helps though mate..

what you really should do is not just focus on the results of one meter…

what I normally do is check Drogden, and a few spots along the coast, that way I get a better idea of where the wind is, and it gives you an idea of where everyone else will be as well if you are not into surfing in crowds during the summer ; )

Learn a little about how sunshine can effect local conditions and stuff as well, everything has an impact…

at the end of the day though… the best way is just to stand there on the beach and ask yourself ”is it enough?” Forget windmeters… you wont use them after a while surfing. (the small ones you have in your pocket)
