how the fuck can anyone say that only sponsored riders benefit from the existence from the survival of local surfshops, I have NEVER heard anything so ridiculous.
Actually, if you are one of those people that DO believe this, then I will happy to know that you wont get any of the awesome service that some of these shops provide. Make sure to tell lots of people about what you did too so we all know you are cheap bastards.

like you said, an IKO cert isnt required to hire gear, but it would be nice to compare the IKO vs KSA
I think at the end of the day, its always nice for the student to have an instructor that has a clue about what needs to be taught, but how much of it is just to make the IKO and KSA cash I wonder.
