Hmm.. I couldnt see where you are in the country from your profile, but as far as customer service goes I would say that it includes support when there is a problem, being sold the right gear. All the stores in sweden understand how important it is to look after their customers, and I am very open about the ones I dont think provide that as well as they should, and it seems it has an effect, things are changing.
I am more than sure that if you spoke to whatever brand you are interested in and say that there are more competitive prices across the water, you will probably just hear that the shops here have to pay more for the gear than they do abroad, but you will very likely get something extra thrown into the deal as a sweetener.
All the stores have contributed in some way or another to help keep our spots open and really push the riders into competing by throwing loads of free gear to events last year, and this one. Isnt that worth paying for? : )
By the same token, if you are paying the extra you have the RIGHT to demand the best service possible, and that can only be a good thing for us all too?
Sorry I offended, but I am scottish, we are supposed to be the tight bastards, I just feel so strongly about supporting the industry here, fuck its not like the last year has been easy for anyone. Dont be fooled though, even in a good season, nobody is in this for the cash, its a lifestyle thing.

I have heard good things about Bornholm : ) was planning a trip out there this summer to chill.. looks like taking the car is not going to be an option, so I was thinking a bike with one of those german trailer things on it..
